Sculptures

I use replanted pine wood for my carvings with naturally dried Mexican Elder and reclaimed driftwood for the bases. Sculptures are then painted with acrylic paint. I use natural deerskin leather, fur, feathers and other adornments to add the finishing touch.

Tear of the Desert

Picture

Rain, whether needed or not, rain is
a vital part of the desert. It can bring or take life. Tears of joy or tears of sorrow can be shed by the power  water can hold

Driftwood

Picture
He drifts effortlessly over the line
of dreams and reality.
Many avoid him for that very reason.
It often seems he cannot tell
which world he is currently in.
He brings ramblings of the future,
dreams that may soon ring true,
impending danger, or the news of death.
He shares the good with the bad
simply because he feels it’s his place.
He sees what others cannot.
Some see his visions as a blessing,
others only see a curse.

Badger

Picture

Known for his ability to heal the sick and mend the wounded, many often seek him out for medicinal powers. The badger, though you seek him for his help, you must do so with caution. His temperament is so wild that it may cause you more harm than good.

Gatherer

Picture

Any good Chief will always do what's best for his clansmen.  The Gatherer is no different. He will spend countless hours going through weeds, herbs, and berries to provide for his medicine men to guarantee only the best is provided so his clan can be healthy at all times.

Small River

Picture

His quick and demanding chirps can be heard long before he is ever seen. Running along creek beds, rivers, and streams; the Small River kachina barks out orders to any of the men in the area to clean away debris that may taint that water.

Squash

Picture

A mythical creature said to appear when crops are at their worst, cleansing the fields and revitalizing the land so that the crops may become abundant once more.

Dragon's Song
(Female Kokopelli)

Picture

When the mellow, masculine winds
give way to a flirty dash of rhythm;
it is not hard to forget your responsibilities
and search for that enticing sound.
Like a dragonfly on the water,
she dances and plays with no real point
but yet you can’t seem to take your eyes off her.
The rhythm of her music and the dance of
her feet keep you entranced like the
dragonfly on the water chasing her sweets.

Spotted Corn

Picture

A proud being
, the Spotted Corn boasts the colors of a fruitful harvest. Colored in the beautiful hues of freshly ripened corn, he represents the hard work that has gone throughout the year to make this harvest a success.

Compassionate

Picture

Said to help protect young children and sooth their pain when they are punished, telling them that even though they are punished for wrong doing they can learn from it and hopefully not do it again

Hand Pot Carrier

Picture

When medicine men clean and purify streams and rivers, the Hand Pot Carrier wastes no time in searching out these waters no matter the distance. He returns home to provide the sacred water, clear of evil spirits, for the tribes ceremonies.

Guardian of the Clouds

Picture

Is said to protect the clouds from evil spirits,
so the rains can make it to the fields
.

Crow Mother

Picture

Protector of children.
As any mother would, is known to fight
to the death to protect her children.

Ash

Picture

Purifier
He takes the ashes from ceremonial fires
and spreads them among the homes around
the kiva to ward off evil spirits.

Spring's Awakening

Picture

Represents the seeds of the Spring and the
bounty of color soon to be brought from
the flowers.

Snarl's (Wild Cat)

Picture

There are always things our
parents tell us not to do and most
of us tend to disobey.
But when our parents tell us to avoid
certain canyons and valleys,
it’s best to do as you’re told.
When crossing a foe such as Snarls,
one who fights with no concern
for the outcome,
chances are you will be on a very bad
receiving end of a whooping.

Broadhead

Picture

Responsible for bringing large,
billowing clouds of rain without the
dangers of thunderstorms.

Fire Horn
(Big Horn Sheep)

Picture

Among the spiky mountain tops
lives one that simply should not be.
With horns as red as the desert sunset,
he stands boldly among the muted
colors  of the desert.
He does not fret over his differences.
He simply lets them stand as his strong
points, allowing others to see that it’s
our differences that make us unique.

Flutters of the Fall

Picture

In the valley of the broad leaf trees, she can be seen dancing
amongst the discarded autumn leaves.
Some tip toe on the ground while others take flight on the breeze.
It is not until you come closer that you realize her solo performance
is a merry gathering of playmates.
Monarchs join her dance during the last bits of warmth
in harmony with the leaves until the last leaf has fallen.

Stump (Mad Ogre)

Picture

Lucky are those who find turquoise  in the crevices of the rocks.
It’s easy to be lead astray when you look up onto the sandy hills
and see two large turquoise stones practically glowing at you.
Why wouldn’t you dare take a closer look?
That’s exactly what he wants you to do.
Tired of returning empty handed from the villages where kids
learned to respect and obey their elders,
Stump took on a new tactic to lure snacks to lunch time by temptation.
To cute to be mean but fare to mean to be cute.
Stump proves to be a very cunning ogre.
