"In
the beginning, as the sun crossed the sky he grew lonely. The sun
wondered if this was all he had to his life and slowly he began to grow
dim. Feeling for him the creator made the moon. For a time all was well,
the sun was happy to simply have a companion in the sky with him, until
one day as the sun and moon danced around the earth and they met for
the first time. They could not take their eyes off of each other and so
they embraced. Day became night. Stars shown where there should be
clouds. The two lovers wanted nothing more but to be together, but all
to soon they were reminded that they had responsibilities. They knew
they could not stay in one place and that they had to part. But the sun,
so happy with his new love, shown as brightly as ever and the moon,
just as much in love with the sun, now had a radiant glow about her. It
is said she thinks of her lover often, because there are nights she
glows bright enough to light the earth herself; and always knowing every
few years they will get to share there embrace again."
